David Cains – Chairman of the Board
David has been involved in credit management since commencing The ARMS Group in 1975 and has managed the introduction of billing and collection programs for a number of different industries. Seeing the need for credit risk management services globally, The ARMS Group became GCS Partner in Australia in May 2010.
He has been an integral part of the development of the credit and credit services industry. His experience includes time as National President of the Institute of Mercantile Agents, President of the Australian Collectors Association and Industry Spokesperson before the state and federal governments. Between 1988 and 2008 he was the industry representative for the Federal Privacy Consultative Committee. He was also the industry representative for ASIC, ACCC and Credit Code.
Through his involvement with the Institute of Mercantile Agents, David has developed training programs for the debt collection industry and was instrumental in developing the Professional Practice Management Quality System (PPMS) for the debt collection industry in Australia and New Zealand.
David is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance, Australian Institute of Credit Management, Australian Institute of Management, and a Member of the National Society of Accountants and Company Directors Association. David Has an MBA in SME Management from southern Cross University.
Peter McDonald – Managing Director
Peter McDonald has extensive experience in the credit management and finance industries and brings a wealth of experience to his role as Managing Director.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and vision, Peter has developed and guided The ARMS Global Group to where it is today, one of the largest privately owned collections agency in Australia.
Working closely with ARMS’ clients, Peter has developed a distinctive approach designed to deliver highly effective credit management and debt collection solutions. His commercial experience and business nous has led him to develop a firm with comprehensive expertise in all areas of credit management and debt collection. This has allowed The ARMS Global Group to deliver significant collection results to their clients.
As well as Managing Director, Peter is responsible for the firm’s technology and for developing a number of collections and compliance systems.
Peter has a keen interest in a number of charities and acts as the company’s liaison for various charitable events, including the ARMS Global Autism Conference and the ARMS Global International Golf Day.
Tom Torpy – Director
With close to 20 years collections and legal experience, Tom has the knowledge and expertise to assist ARMS' clients in all legal facets of the credit management cycle.
Prior to joining ARMS, Tom worked for the Melbourne Magistrate Court as the Deputy Registrar. In this role he administrated all civil legal actions including all debt collection matters. Tom’s role at the Magistrate’s Court, combined with his role at ARMS, has given him a practical working knowledge of the civil legal system from both the users and administrators perspectives.
Robyn McDowell - Head of Collections
Robyn is an experienced people manager with the demonstrated ability to build and develop highly successful teams. Robyn’s experience and knowledge provides a balanced continuous improvement and process re-engineering background, with demonstrated high achievement in business growth and retention success.
ARMS is pleased to have Robyn successfully managing in entirety the company’s national network of collections teams while also playing an integral role in the strategy and implementation of the department.
With over 16 years of experience in the finance industry, Robyns background highlights her ability to provide change management, stakeholder and negotiation strategies, while maintaining her focus on team engagement and motivation.
